Lasers, which are essentially a form of pure light, have been used to treat
skin problems for over twenty years. They continue to improve and become more
specialized. The table below list examples of the our various lasers, linked
to conditions that can be treated:
Fraxel Laser Resurfacing
The Fraxel laser
is a new and innovative device used to "fractionally" resurface the
skin. The procedure creates thousands of micro-thermal zones which are
replaced with new healthy skin in only a few days. Other than some redness
and swelling for 1-4 days, there are few other side effects. As opposed to
a light laser peel, this device penetrates well into the dermis of the skin.
New collagen is produced, and the overall color and texture of the skin can
be improved. Even delicate areas such as the neck, chest and close
to the eyes can be treated. Usually 3-5 treatments are required at 1-4 week
intervals, and makeup can be used soon after the treatment.
